Why you began Personal Training?
Worked out my whole life. When kids were raised and mortgage was paid down I asked myself what just what would I like to do if I could do anything. I decided that some of my most significant moments in life happened in the gym. I like the idea of helping other people get to a healthy, fit lifestyle. I remember that my dad had wanted to be in the gym business his whole life but never could quite do it. With all these ideas and others I decided I wanted to be in the fitness business.
Your Philosophy or Approach to Training?
The most common disease of the 21st century is the lack of movement and extreme overabundance of calories. This is a serious problem, killing probably more people than all the other diseases combined. I find it strange that in our current society some substances that will give you an early, miserable death like junk food are perfectly legal, while other things that won’t kill you, but that are socially unacceptable, are illegal. My job or task, as I see it, is to help as many people as possible with this problem. It is a big job affecting millions of people. There is plenty for me to do. I will never be bored.
Hobbies, Spare Time, Interests?
For a lot of my life I was in the construction and landscape business. I still do some of those things in a small way. I get a kick out of it if it’s not too much. I also have an interest in science, philosophy, and religious studies.
Other
I just completed a book about six months ago about fitness for people over 50. I haven’t been able to promote it much but it is for sale on Amazon.com. The name of the book is Fitgevity Lifestyle. You can type in my name or the title at the Amazon.com page if you’re interested.
